Unity starts with u and i

Our Mission:

What does it take to be a global citizen?
Empathy. Open mindedness. Understanding. Curiosity.

Village to Village United (V2V) brings together teens from different cultures and backgrounds to experience the strength of community without borders.

Village to Village United (V2V) is a local response to the global refugee crisis. Teens from the South Orange/ Maplewood NJ area come together with recently arrived Syrian and Iraqi teens from Elizabeth and Roselle, NJ for year-round events that foster friendships and cultural exchange.

Our Programs

In our core program, teens come together for a week of activities that encompass the creative arts, field trips, cooking, exploring nature, and more! The week culminates in an artistic project that expresses the teens’ individual and collective visions of building bridges across their cultures. Approximately 50 teens (ages 13-18) will be participating in the 2018 summer programs.

Our News & Events

It’s been an exciting first year for V2V! In addition to our summer program, which has been featured in an award-winning documentary and a WNYC radio broadcast, we came together for a Thanksgiving feast, visited the WNYC Greene Space for a special podcast taping about immigration, and enjoyed the SOMA Film Festival where “Village to Village,” the documentary by student filmmaker and V2V participant Max Goldstein, won top honors.
